1. Project OverviewThis project covers a 30-kilometre section of M10 Highway for periodic maintenance and bitumen upgrading, with a construction period of 18 months. The contractor is Unik Construction Engineering (M) Ltd. Works comprise subgrade, granular base, asphalt surfacing, culverts, guardrails, road markings and associated auxiliary structures. The incumbent will liaise regularly with the Roads Authority of Malawi and independent supervising consulting engineers.

2. Core Duties

2.1.Carry out setting-out, alignment and level control for road subgrade, pavement, culverts, guardrails and all roadside ancillary works

2.2.Recheck survey benchmarks, conduct cross-section surveys and calculate earthwork volumes to support monthly interim payment measurements

2.3.Measure actual haulage distances of construction materials and prepare formal survey documentation for variation orders and contractual claims

2.4Maintain RTK, total station and all survey instruments; compile daily survey records, measurement data and as-built drawings; 2.5Submit survey inspection documents to the supervising engineer; perform sectional acceptance surveys and re-survey works within the defects notification period.

3. Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

3.1.Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering or related field; holding valid professional surveyor certificate with no less than 3 years practical highway construction experience

3.2.Skilled in operating RTK and total station, proficient in AutoCAD drafting and earthwork quantity calculation

4. Remuneration & Entitlements4.1.Full monthly salary will be disbursed on schedule without delay; 4.2.18 calendar days of fully paid annual leave per year; 4.3.One complimentary return air ticket to the applicant’s home country provided annually for annual leave travel; 4.4.Free accommodation and full catering provided on construction camp; competitive salary package negotiable during interview.
