Team And Role Overview

The

Technical Support Assistant

will be responsible for supporting the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of renewable energy, electrical, and agricultural equipment across project sites.

The role includes maintaining solar power systems, generators, solar irrigation pumps, and agro-processing equipment, while ensuring reliable performance and minimal downtime.

The successful candidate will also provide hands-on technical training to local staff, support field-based infrastructure development, and contribute to the effective operation of sustainable processing, and renewable energy initiatives.

JOB PROFILE

Responsibilities

Perform electrical installation, wiring, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.

Install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain solar power systems, including solar panels, inverters, batteries, charge controllers, and related electrical/electronic equipment.

Conduct routine inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of generators to ensure reliable operation.

Support the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of solar-powered irrigation pumps used in organic farming.

Assist in the design, installation, and optimization of irrigation systems for agricultural applications.

Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in solar dryers, groundnut shelling machines, and other agro-processing equipment.

Carry out preventive maintenance activities and maintain service records for all technical equipment.

Train local staff and community members on the installation, operation, maintenance, and safe use of electrical, solar, and agricultural equipment.

Provide technical support during field installations, commissioning, and equipment upgrades.

Identify technical issues and implement practical solutions to minimize equipment downtime.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures during all technical activities.

Prepare technical reports, maintenance logs, and inventory records for equipment and spare parts.

Background And Skills

Academic Background

Diploma, Technical Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Electronics, or a related field.

Work Experience

Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in electrical installations and maintenance, solar energy systems installation, and operating and maintaining generators.

Experience troubleshooting agricultural processing equipment, including solar dryers and groundnut shelling machines.
